The Blind Leading the Blind of Texas
Non-Profit Organization
The majority of visually impaired and blind individuals face extreme limitations every day.
If that’s you or a loved one, we get it. We’ve been there too.
That’s why we provide resources and opportunities that unlock freedom and celebrate the blind community.

We are a group of like individuals working together to improve the independence and quality of life for the visually impaired and blind communities of Texas.

Working together to bring blind awareness and independence to local communities by sponsoring White Cane Day in October of each year.
Awareness
Working together to provide support and informational tools to doctors, newly diagnosed visually impaired and legally blind individuals.
Support
Working together to provide support for those blind individuals who want to attend a primary or secondary school, a college, or a professional or trade school.
Education
Transportation
Working together to provide mobility and transportation needs for blind individuals and their communities.
Working together to improve blind independence by providing VoiceOver, JAWS, iPhone, and Android training.
Independence
Working together to provide health and wellness activities that promote self awareness, independence, and confidence.

This Year’s Priorities
In addition to our objectives, we are pursuing some yearly goals to make a big impact for our community!
The Blind Leading the Blind of Texas members are assisting in "Gear Up" the leadership, career guidance, and development program offered by Criss Cole School For The Blind in Austin, Texas. We are looking forward to planning, hosting, and assisting other leadership and guidance programs for this year.
Leadership
White Cane Safety Day is a special day in the blind community held in October every year. This years event will be October 15, 2026. Join us as we bring community awareness for the visually impaired and the blind through a walk to the Fort Worth square, listening to an inspiring speech, and enjoying time together. We hope you'll join us on our walk!
White Cane Safety Day
We hope to reach a goal of $200,000 raised for the year of 2026. These funds will allow us to host events for our community and students, as well as gain the resources we need to help doctors support our visually impaired community and to help newly blind individuals gain freedom and confidence.
